Crypto
Daily rates for the coins you hold, and how a crypto position is valued over time.
Crypto assets hold quantities of coins rather than an amount of money, so they need a rate per coin per day. Walletguide fetches and stores those daily rates for you.
How a position is valued
You record the quantity you hold and the transactions that changed it. The value on a date is quantity times that date's rate, converted into the wallet's base currency.
Because the quantity and the rate are kept apart, the reports can tell you which part of a move was the market and which was you buying or selling — the same decomposition the net worth report does for currency.
Wallets and exchanges
There is no connection to an exchange or an on-chain address. You record what you hold, by hand or by import, and Walletguide values it. For most people a position changes rarely enough that this is a few minutes a year.
Rates
Fetched daily and backfilled when a coin is new to your wallet, so adding a holding you have had for two years gives you two years of history rather than a line starting today.
